As we continue to survey the stats collected from Chelsea games in the 2018/19 season, we look at two categories where we significantly outnumbered our opponents, and two where the totals were the other way around…

It did not go unnoticed in the last campaign how many times our players saw their efforts at goal strike a post or a crossbar instead. In total the Blues hit the woodwork 30 times in 2018/19 with the most unlucky Marcos Alonso.

In contrast, our opposing teams hit the post or the bar just over half as often – 16 times in total.

When it came to own-goals last season, our opponents did outscore us.

Sendings-off were also scarce. None for Chelsea throughout the whole campaign and two for opposition players, both in Europa League matches.
