We’re only one day away from Chelsea’s first pre-season game in Japan against Kawasaki Frontale and we round-off our countdown to kick-off in Yokohama by taking one last look at an image from a past visit to the country by the Blues.

Today’s photo above was taken on 13 December 2012, the day of our FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Mexican side Monterrey, and shows the team doing some stretching in a waterfront park with the Yokohama Bay Bridge in the background.

Yokohama is the most distant location the Blues have ever travelled to for a competitive match and it came in our busiest ever season in 2012/13 when we played 69 games in total, which included visits to Copenhagen, Donetsk, Prague, Bucharest, Moscow and Amsterdam, where we lifted the Europa League trophy after victory against Benfica in the final.

The Blues will be looking to enjoy more glory in the upcoming season and we will gear up for the campaign by facing J.League champions Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama on Friday 19 July and Barcelona in Saitama on Tuesday 23 July.
