Ampadu looking to shine at Leipzig

Speaking to RB Leipzig’s official website after he had secured a loan move to the German club, Ethan Ampadu said joining the Bundesliga side is the ‘perfect step’ and is eager to make an impression during the upcoming season.

‘I'm delighted to be at RB Leipzig and can't wait to start the season with my new team. I want to get to know the lads and integrate into the team as quickly as possible,’ said the 18-year-old Wales international.

‘I have followed the club in recent years and have seen how well young players have developed here and how much potential this club has, so it's the perfect step for me.’

With Leipzig playing in the Champions League after finishing third in the Bundesliga last season, the club’s sporting director Markus Krosche was pleased to have a player of Ampadu’s quality to reinforce their squad.

‘We're delighted to have been able to secure a one-year loan deal for Ethan Ampadu. He's only 18, but he already has a wealth of international experience and can play in both defence and holding midfield,’ said Krosche.

‘Despite a number of offers in England, Ethan decided to join us. He is another top talent for the club and his versatility gives us more variety in the squad.’

Miazga to re-join Reading on loan

United States international centre-back Matt Miazga looks set to return to Reading for the 2019/20 season after he was reported to have undergone a medical at the Championship club on Monday.

According to a tweet by Reading Chronicle journalist Courtney Friday, the 24-year-old undertook his medical along with former Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, whose move has now been completed.

‘I understand Matt Miazga AND Charlie Adam both took medicals at #readingfc today,’ stated Friday in an early tweet.

‘I’m told these could be announced tomorrow morning. Done deal,’ he followed up later.

After spending the first half of last season on loan at French side Nantes, Miazga joined Reading in January and started in 18 games for the Championship side as they successfully avoided relegation to League One.

Sterling linked with QPR move

After a solid campaign on loan at League One side Coventry City, England Under-20 international defender Dujon Sterling is set to move up a step at Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2019/20, the Independent reports.

Sterling played two games for the Blues senior men’s team in the 2017/18 season but with keen competition for the right-back position at Chelsea at present, he will be looking to gain more experience in another season-long loan.

‘The 19-year-old right-back spent last season at Coventry and The Independent understands that he will now head back out on loan again with first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge behind Cesar Azpilicueta, Davide Zappacosta and fellow academy graduate Reece James,’ states the report.

‘Sterling made 40 appearances for the Sky Blues last season and QPR have been keen to add him to their Championship squad for a number of weeks after completing a loan deal for Tottenham midfielder Luke Amos.’
