N’Golo Kante is part of the Chelsea squad which has landed in Germany this afternoon for the final pre-season game of the summer.

The star midfielder, who has not played in any of the preparation matches so far, returned early a fortnight ago from the club’s visit to Japan. That was so he could work on his rehabilitation from the injury that affected him at the end last season but did not prevent him playing in the UEFA Europa League final victory over Arsenal in Baku.Frank Lampard gave an update on the France international’s fitness last weekend, stating:‘The signs are good. It was certainly the right decision for him to come home early from Japan and get the treatment he had.‘He’s dipped into training with us over the last couple of days and I expect him to be training through this week to the point that he can be fully involved at the start of next week. There’s a lot more he needs to do physically without us but we’re hopeful.’

Kante has worked at Cobham throughout this week and did travel with the rest of the squad for the midweek win against RB Salzburg in Austria, but he has re-joined the rest of his team-mates for the visit to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend.Chelsea play the side that finished fifth in the German league last season.Click for details of how to follow the game, which kicks off at 4pm UK time on Saturday afternoon, and for how to watch full video of the match action from 6pm.Another of the travelling party is Andreas Christensen who spent a successful two years on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
