Trevoh Chalobah signs new contract and heads out on loan

Trevoh Chalobah has signed a new contract and today joined Huddersfield Town on loan for the 2019/20 season.

The defender experienced his first taste of senior football last term with Ipswich Town in the Championship, earning plaudits for performances in defence and midfield despite the Tractor Boys ultimately being relegated. He made 44 appearances at Portman Road and scored twice.

A poised player comfortable with the ball at his feet, Chalobah joined Chelsea as an Under-9, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Nathaniel. He won the UEFA Youth League in 2016, as well as back-to-back FA Youth Cups, while on the international stage he lifted the European Championship trophy with England Under-19s in 2017.

During the following season, he was named on the bench on several occasions, including for the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

The Terriers are aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation last season. They kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Derby County. Chalobah’s new Chelsea contract commits him to the club until at least 2022.
