The Blues are in Istanbul ahead of tonight’s Super Cup clash with Liverpool at Besiktas Park, with all eyes turning towards kick-off.

Frank Lampard’s side head into the game looking to bounce back from Sunday’s Premier League defeat to Manchester United and aiming to lift some silverware in the meantime.

Training has been good in the Turkish capital in the build up to tonight’s game, but what about our opponents? We run our eye over the Liverpool squad…

Who’s in charge?

Jurgen Klopp

The German has been in charge at Anfield since 2015 and guided the Reds to Champions League glory last season, defeating Tottenham in the final in Madrid.

That win set up tonight’s clash, with the winners of the Champions League facing the Europa League winners – the trophy we lifted in May.

Klopp was previously managed in his home country, enjoying success in charge of Mainz and orussia Dortmund, winning the Bundesliga with the latter.

Key player

Mo Salah

A familiar face to Blues fans, Salah spent a brief period with us at Stamford Bridge but has taken his game to another level since arriving at Liverpool.

The Egyptian has formed a superb attacking partnership with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, with the Reds utilising the pace and precision of the trio to attack at speed.

Before arriving at Anfield, Salah spent time in Serie A with Fiorentina – on loan from Chelsea – and Roma, where he was a team-mate of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

One to watch

Sadio Mane

As mentioned above, Mane is another key element of the Liverpool attacking trio. The Senegalese international tends to play on the left-hand side, but is dangerous at cutting onto his right and firing at goal.

The former Southampton man, who has also played in France and Austria, arrived at Anfield in 2016 and helped Liverpool win the Champions League last season.

The forward netted 22 Premier League goals last term, which was enough to see him named as the Premier League Golden Boot winner alongside team-mate Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
