Evra shows respect to Cole

According to the Daily Mail, Ashley Cole has earned a greater level of respect from former rival Patrice Evra after the pair spent time recently working together on their coaching badges.

The former Chelsea left-back announced last weekend he was hanging up his boots and it prompted a response on Twitter from the Frenchman who posted a picture of them taken during a coaching workshop.

'So much respect for you @theofficialac3,' said Evra. 'We never defended the same goal but after spending two weeks together on our coaching badges now I understand why you had such a great career. Enjoy your retirement!'

Cole and Evra are regarded as two of the finest left-backs to play in the Premier League and won several individual and team honours when they played for Chelsea and Manchester United respectively in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Mount set for England call-up

Sky Sports reports Mason Mount is in line for a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, after his impressive start to the season at Chelsea.

Southgate is expected to announce his squad for the matches next Thursday and it is understood the 20-year-old is in strong contention for inclusion.

‘Mount only made his Premier League debut 10 days ago, but he is now a key part of Frank Lampard's plans at Stamford Bridge. He has started both Premier League games so far this season and scored his first senior goal for the club against Leicester on Sunday,’ states the report.

‘Southgate's assistant Steve Holland was at the game and Sky Sports News has been told he was impressed by Mount's level of performance.’

Mount received his first senior England call-up last October but he has yet to win his first cap after he remained on the bench for the Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

He was named the tournament’s Golden Player when he helped England to win the European Under-19 Championship in 2017 and represented his country at the European Under-21 Championship this summer.

Chelsea linked with young German star Havertz

A report by Metro indicates Chelsea have expressed interest along with a number of other top European clubs in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is one of the Bundesliga’s rising stars and there are indications he could be looking for a move next summer after Chelsea’s transfer ban has expired.

‘After scoring 20 goals last season, Havertz is expected to push for a move in the summer of 2020,’ states the report.

‘German outlet Sport 1 claim Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City are battling for Havertz and will face competition from Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spain’s two biggest clubs [Barcelona and Real Madrid].

‘Bayern Munich are desperate to poach Havertz from Leverkusen, but their Bundesliga rivals are set to demand a stunning £91million for the German. After watching Benfica collect £113m for Joao Felix this summer, Leverkusen are confident they can demand a similar fee for Havertz.’
