Prior to the game this weekend, captain Cesar Azpilicueta was confident the wait for a win would not be a long one and following it, he was understandably pleased the three goals scored led to three points collected.

Following the opening-day defeat at Old Trafford and the draw at home to Leicester, our third Premier League match of the new season ended 3-2 in the Blues favour, Norwich the defeated side at Carrow Road.‘It was very important,’ Azpilicueta said of the win, ‘because we had the feeling the performances we had, we did not get the results we deserved but we know in any case it gets more and more difficult and it was a very important game.‘We got the lead three times and the third one counted and we got the three points. I am happy with the team spirit because when you are at Chelsea you play every game to win and when you don’t get the win you get frustrated and I am happy for the team, for everyone, we have been working hard for this.‘Frank and his staff have been working very hard alongside us since the first day in July,’ the Spaniard added. ‘The only thing we had in our minds was to play with high intensity, to control the games, to win the games, so obviously when you don’t get the results you have been working on and with the performances we had, we have been disappointed. But we had a lot of confidence in ourselves. We knew that all the work, it could pay off any day and this time it was the case.’

A big contributor to the first victory was two-goal Tammy Abraham and Azpilicueta added to manager Frank Lampard’s praise for the 21-year-old striker.

‘I am very happy for him. We know that to be no.9 at Chelsea is not an easy task but Tammy is a boy who dreamt to be in the team since he was very little. He went through the Academy and had an amazing spell last season at Aston Villa.‘Since he was back for pre-season this year he has been amazing, not only his goals but his work and way to improve, always ready to listen to everyone and to get the step forward.‘I am very happy because I think these two goals will give him a lot of confidence. He is a very strong boy and I am very happy with him and hopefully he can score many more.’
