A prolific scorer while on loan at Championship sides Bristol City and Aston Villa, Abraham didn’t take too long to show his goal-scoring ability to Chelsea fans when he found the net twice in only his second start and fifth appearance overall for our senior men’s team.

His third-minute opener highlighted his ability to work space for himself in the opposition box and finish with clinical precision, while his winner midway through the second half showed us his confidence in running at defenders and shooting from range.

Abraham’s heroics at Carrow Road made him the first player to get off the mark for Chelsea with two goals since February when Gonzalo Higuain netted a double in a 5-0 victory over Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge just two weeks after he arrived on loan from Juventus.

The Argentinian thumped home an effort at the near post in the 16th minute before scoring again midway through the second half with a delightful curler from 25 yards.

A couple of players achieved the feat during the 2012/13 season.

Oscar celebrated his first start for the Blues by scoring twice in a 2-2 draw with Juventus in the Champions League in September. The Brazilian broke the deadlock after 31 minutes with a deflected effort from range before he found the top corner with a sumptuous curler past Gianluigi Buffon two minutes later.

Demba Ba arrived during the January transfer window from Newcastle United and he immediately got off the mark on his Chelsea debut, netting twice from close range either side of half-time as the Blues came from a goal down to win 5-1 at Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup.

While Higuain, Ba and Oscar didn’t take long to net their first Chelsea goals, Branislav Ivanovic had to wait well over a year to make his mark for the Blues following his signing from Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2008.

The Serbian defender didn’t play too many games during his first 15 months at Stamford Bridge but he seized his opportunity when we travelled to Anfield in April 2009, heading in twice from corners as the Blues beat Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Those goals proved to be a catalyst in the Chelsea career of Ivanovic, who went on to play 377 games for the Blues, winning several individual and club honours, and scoring 34 goals including our stoppage-time winner in the 2013 Europa League final.

Signed from Inter Milan, Hernan Crespo got his first Chelsea goals in just his third game for the club after being brought on as a substitute at Wolves in September 2003. The Argentinian turned in a cross from Damien Duff seconds after his introduction and rounded off the scoring in our 5-0 victory with a rasping shot off a feed from Frank Lampard in stoppage time.

Jesper Gronkjaer had a memorable first start for the Blues when the pacey Dane scored twice in the opening 23 minutes in a 4-2 victory at Gillingham in an FA Cup tie in January 2001.

And Mario Stanic made a big impression on his Premier League debut for Chelsea when he got two goals at the Bridge against West Ham in August 2000 including a stunning volley from 35 yards after he had controlled the ball with some keepy-uppys near the touchline.
