Chelsea's development squad kick off the footballing weekend with a London derby in PL2 which you can watch for free. Frank Lampard has confirmed Toni Rudiger will play.

Here, we look ahead to the game against Tottenham and outline everything you need to know...

When and where?

The latest outing in Premier League 2 for our development squad comes tonight (Friday 30 August) at Aldershot as Andy Myers’s table-topping Blues host Tottenham. The game kicks off at 7pm.

How to watch live stream

You can watch the game for free live on the Fifth Stand App and also this website. Coverage starts at 6.55pm.

The form

It’s been an excellent start to the season under new boss Myers, with seven points on the board after the opening three league matches, including a 3-0 win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge 11 days ago. That victory in our home opener was particularly significant seeing as it took the team until the first week of December to record a league win on home soil last term.

The young Blues also started with three points in the EFL Trophy, edging a five-goal thriller away at Swindon Town in the senior competition.

Spurs have also won two of their first three PL2 games against Liverpool and Manchester City, though were beaten last time out at home to Derby County.

Rudiger plays

In his media conference today ahead of the Sheffield United game, Frank Lampard revealed the German defender would continue his comeback from injury at Aldershot.

The boss said: ‘Rudiger is going to play for the Under-23s tonight, hopefully for the final time in terms of getting proper match fitness. Then he is in serious contention to play after the break.’

Who could feature?

The likes of Marc Guehi, Billy Gilmour, Tino Anjorin and Charlie Brown are all set to feature in the London derby as we look to extend our unbeaten start to the season. Gilmour and Guehi were among the goals last week in Manchester as we came from 2-0 down with eight minutes left to snatch a point against City.

Our recent runout at the Bridge also provided the opportunity for Antonio Rudiger to continue his comeback from injury with 90 minutes and there could well be further involvement for members of Frank Lampard’s senior squad in the coming weeks as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James step up their respective rehabilitation programmes.

Last meeting

Just like in Manchester last week, it was a Gilmour penalty that helped us to a point the last time we faced Tottenham in PL2. The game took place in Stevenage and ended 1-1, with Ethan Ampadu and Conor Gallagher among the starters for Joe Edwards's side. Our last meeting at Aldershot also ended with the same scoreline as Brown denied the visitors a win with a last-minute leveller.

The last time we beat Spurs in PL2 was November 2017 when Hudson-Odoi was among the goals in a 3-2 win.
