Chelsea duo Marc Guehi and Trevoh Chalobah both helped England Under-21s to victory this evening, while Michy Batshuayi was an unused substitute as Belgium recorded a big victory over Scotland in the latest round of international fixtures.

Belgium defeated Scotland 4-0 at Hampden Park to stay top of Group I, although striker Batshuayi was an unused substitute for the Red Devils. Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Vermaelen, Toby Alderweireld and Kevin De Bruyne were all on target for Roberto Martinez’s side

Mario Pasalic was unused sub as Croatia were held to a 1-1 away draw with Azerbaijan. The midfielder, on a season-long loan at Atalanta, wasn’t joined by Mateo Kovacic, who missed out through injury. Croatia remain top of Group E, a point ahead of Hungary.

Ethan Ampadu, who is spending this season on loan in Germany with RB Leipzig, was also an unused substitute as Wales defeated Belarus 1-0 in Cardiff in a friendly. Manchester United winger Daniel James scored the winning goal in the first half.

In the younger age groups, both Guehi and Chalobah started for England Under-21s, having previously made their debuts at this level at the weekend, and they helped the Young Lions defeat Kosovo 2-0 in a European qualifier at Hull’s KCOM Stadium. Phil Foden scoring both goals in that game, with Guehi and Chalobah, who is on loan at Huddersfield, both starting in a three-man defence.

Also in England’s qualification group, attacking midfielder Armando Broja completed the full 90 minutes for Albania Under-21s but he could do nothing to prevent his country slipping to a 4-0 home defeat to Austria.

Earlier in the evening, Tariq Lamptey featured for just over an hour for England Under-20s as they defeated Switzerland courtesy of a late Jack Clarke winner. Conor Gallagher, who is having a fine start to the season on loan at Charlton, was an unused sub for the Young Lions in Switzerland.

Meanwhile Clinton Mola and Tino Anjorin both started for England Under-19s in an away friendly against Germany, but the Chelsea duo were both on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat to the Germans.
