Of our 24 shots last night, 10 were on target, six off and eight blocked. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s six attempts, of which three were on target, were both game-high figures.

We scored seven goals in a single League Cup match for only the third time, and the first since the inaugural 1960-61 campaign when we did so against Millwall and Doncaster. Those games were both away so this was the first time we scored seven on home soil in the competition.

We had a 72 per cent share of possession. Kurt Zouma spent the most time on the ball (12.4 per cent), followed by Billy Gilmour (9.7 per cent). Zouma (138) and Gilmour (102) also had the most touches.

Our pass success rate was 88 per cent, as we completed 613 of our 698 passes with 65 per cent of those played forward.

Ross Barkley was the most accurate passer of the outfielders, finding a team-mate 97 per cent of the time. Gilmour did so with 93 per cent of his passes, and Zouma and Marc Guehi 90 per cent of theirs.

Nobody was successful with more passes than Zouma (111). Gilmour (89), Guehi (70), Barkley (64) and Reece James (59) completed the top five in that department.

James was responsible for a game-high five key passes. Gilmour made four.

The top dribblers were Hudson-Odoi and sub Tino Anjorin, with three apiece.

Guehi won a Chelsea-high two tackles, while his centre-back partner Zouma’s four clearances was the most of anyone in blue.
