Lifting the Lid: Antonio Rudiger

Toni Rudiger is the latest player to give us some behind-the-scenes snippets about his team-mates and himself, including which player loves watching Netflix and who would accompany him to a Drake concert…

Who has been the best player in training lately?

Of the outfield players, who would also make a good goalkeeper?

Gary Cahill. He is like a soldier. If you put him as a striker he would try his luck, and if you put him in goal he would do well.

Of the defenders, who would make the best striker?

Alonso because he shoots very well.

Who is good at free-kicks in training that we might not know about?

It’s right that Alonso and Willian take the free-kicks!

Who is the biggest joker in the dressing room?

Danny Drinkwater is very funny.

Who is the loudest?

Ross Barkley! (Ross, standing nearby, laughs). No, I’ll be honest. That’s me!

Who is the quietest?

Who do you sit with on away trips? What do you do to pass the time?

I sit at the back with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Eden Hazard and Oli Giroud. We do jokes, phones, some days watch films on Netflix. N’Golo always watches films!

Who is good at lifting morale after a bad result?

After you lose a match immediately afterwards it’s difficult. Everyone deals with it in his own way and carries themselves. That’s for the best. If you always start speaking after defeats for me that’s showing off.

Who is the most active on social media?

I don’t go on social media much so I don’t know who’s really into it, but I think if he was here it would be Michy Batshuayi!

If you could watch any musical act at Under the Bridge, who would it be, and which players would you try to convince to come with you?

I would like to see Drake live. I would take Hudson-Odoi. We like the same type of music.

And the question from Emerson – what do you want to do when you retire from playing football?

First, just living life and enjoying time with the family. I really don’t have any clue at the moment. It’s too far in the future!
