Chelsea team-mates pay tribute to Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea figures have been paying tribute to Cesc Fabregas after the Spanish midfielder today completed a transfer to Monaco.

Fabregas appeared 198 times for the Blues, scoring 22 goals. During his time with us, he lifted four trophies – two Premier Leagues, one FA Cup and one League Cup.
He will be missed by players and fans alike, and several Blues have shared their views on the Spaniard.

Eden Hazard

‘I can say that I was lucky to play with him. Since the beginning when he came we won the Double together.

‘Top guy on the pitch and off the pitch. A great friend of mine. I just have admiration for this guy.

‘I hope he will have a good future. He is still a very good player. He will enjoy it.’

Ross Barkley

‘Day to day you see Cesc in training and he’s a fantastic player. You learn things from him in training and on a matchday. Over the years, when he was at Arsenal and Barcelona, as a young lad I took notice of the simple things he did right. He’s been a magnificent player for Spain as well.’

David Luiz

‘I think Cesc is one of the best players to have played in England for many, many years.

‘It was emotional, not just for him, but for everybody. we are sad, but we wish him all the best because he is a great character and a great player and we will miss him. It’s always hard, but it’s part of the process.’

Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes, who was at Arsenal at the same time as Fabregas

‘We’re talking about a player who has taken the midfield performances and improved them at every club he’s been at. His ability to pick out a pass from different parts of the pitch has been exceptional.

‘His vision, his peripheral vision and the quality of his decisions for passes has set him apart. He leaves a legacy and you can’t say that about many players.

‘I think Fabregas leaves with his reputation intact as one of the greatest players the Premier League has ever witnessed.’

Alvaro Morata sent a message to his compatriot via Instagram

‘You do not know how much I'm going to miss you! To you and your wonderful family, thank you very much for helping us in EVERYTHING possible. Thanks for all the moments lived and good luck in everything you do!’

Chelsea coach Carlo Cudicini also spoke about Fabregas after our win against Nottingham Forest

‘What can I say about Cesc? Five hundred games [in English football], he is a player who is unique, he has an unbelievable awareness and vision of where his team-mates are on the pitch.

‘I think he is one of the few that has the ability to give balls behind the defensive line that are so precise.

‘He is one of a kind player. He has been fantastic for the teams he played for before us and the contribution he has given this club and to this team has been amazing. Cesc is a top, top player.’
