We reached the fourth round courtesy of a 2-0 success against Nottingham Forest with Alvaro Morata netting both goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi deliveries. Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile got the better of Luton after a replay.

There have been plenty of famous cup-ties between Wednesday and Chelsea down the years including FA Cup matches three seasons running in 1960s. The first of those ties was a semi-final which went our opponents’ way but the Blues turned the table the following season on the way to our first major Wembley final in 1967, and we knocked them out in a replay at Hillsborough in 1994 en route to the Twin Towers again.

A dramatic League Cup quarter-final that went to two replays in 1985 before we prevailed is legendary, and most recently in the FA Cup, a Roberto Di Matteo goal won a fifth-round tie in 1999.

The following season both sides won their home game in our Premier League meetings but with Wednesday relegated at the end of that season, we have not faced each other in any competition since.
