We bring you news of the progress being made by some of our players out on loan, including another goal for Tammy Abraham.
It's been another busy period of action for our loanees, and we begin our round-up with news of a goal for one of our young strikers.
Tammy Abraham scored for the sixth successive home game with his fourth goal in his last four appearances for Aston Villa, netting the equaliser as they came from two behind to draw 2-2 with a Hull side which featured Todd Kane at the back. The result prevented the Tigers from recording a seventh successive Championship victory.
Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori helped Derby follow up their FA Cup replay win over Southampton with a 2-1 league victory against a Reading side which included Lewis Baker in the starting line-up for the first time, as Frank Lampard’s side maintained their spot in the play-off places. They overcame the Saints on penalties on Wednesday after overhauling a two-goal deficit to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup, with both Blues loanees putting in a sterling display and Mount also netting his spot-kick.
Michael Hector helped Sheffield Wednesday overcome Luton Town in their FA Cup replay, the Owls winning 1-0 at Kenilworth Road, and the Yorkshire club repeated that scoreline on Saturday as they beat a Wigan side featuring Reece James.
Bristol City are in seventh position in the Championship, one place below Derby, after a 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest which spoiled club legend Martin O’Neill’s first match in charge at the City Ground. Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva started in the Robins’ rearguard while Kasey Palmer came off the bench with just under half an hour remaining. Trevoh Chalobah was in the Ipswich Town midfield as the Tractor Boys lost 2-0 at Blackburn.
In the Premier League, Kurt Zouma provided the assist for Everton’s late consolation goal as the Toffees were beaten 2-1 at Southampton. It followed the Frenchman’s first goal for the club in last week’s win over Bournemouth.
Kenneth Omeruo started for Leganes away at Barcelona, with the home side running out 3-1 winners.
In Serie A, Mario Pasalic provided the assists for Atalanta’s first two goals in a 5-0 rout of Frosinone, while Ola played for Torino who lost 3-2 at Roma. Tiemoue Bakayoko will hope to be involved for AC Milan who play Genoa later today. The Eredivisie resumed after its winter break, with Eduardo and Jake Clarke-Salter featuring for Vitesse Arnhem who beat Excelsior 3-2.
After a couple of tough results, it was a better day for Bradley Collins and his Burton team-mates in League One as they drew 2-2 at Doncaster thanks to a last-ditch equaliser. Fellow goalkeeper Nathan Baxter and defender Josh Grant helped Yeovil record a second successive victory as they moved clear of the League Two drop zone thanks to a 2-0 win over Notts County. Jacob Maddox came on for Cheltenham who were beaten 2-0 by Carlisle.
In the Dutch second tier, Fankaty Dabo played in Sparta Rotterdam’s 2-2 draw with Roda. In the Belgian top flight, Kylian Hazard came off the bench for Cercle Brugge shortly before they equalised from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw against Waasland-Beveren.
