History

We have never met Manchester City in a competitive final, although our season started with the Community Shield loss to them at Wembley. In our meeting earlier this season in the Premier League, we won 2-0 thanks to goals from N'Golo Kante and David Luiz.

We will meet the Citizens before next month's Carabao Cup final in the Premier League. That game at the Etihad is on Sunday 10 February, two weeks prior to the Wembley showpiece. Kick-off is at 4pm UK time.

In our last final in this competion, we beat Tottenham 2-0 in 2015. In all, we have won five of our seven League Cup finals, also winning the trophy in 1965, 1998, 2005 and 2007. We lost finals in 1972 and 2008.

The route to Wembley

The Blues started off with a 2-1 at Anfield against Liverpool, Eden Hazard netting an incredible late winner. We then battled past Derby (3-2) and Bournemouth (1-0) in the fourth round and quarter-finals respectively, before getting the better of Spurs on penalties after it finished 2-2 on aggregate

Manchester City opened with a 3-0 win at Oxford United before beating Fulham at home. They required penalties to get the better of Leicester City in the quarter-finals, and followed that by thrashing League One side Burton Albion 10-0 on aggregate.
