Willian hit a special landmark for Chelsea on Sunday when he netted the opener in our 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.
With his successful 26th-minute penalty against the Owls, the Brazilian became the 10th non-British player to score a half-century of goals for the Blues, joining an illustrious list which includes Didier Drogba, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gianfranco Zola and Eden Hazard.
To mark his milestone goal, here is a look at six of his most memorable strikes for the Blues. Let us know which is your favourite in the poll below.
Norwich City – October 2013
Willian’s first Chelsea goal was a brilliant effort in his opening Premier League game at Norwich City. Introduced as an 81st minute substitute, the Brazilian struck just five minutes later, picking up a loose ball on the right of the Canaries box and curling an exquisite left-footed shot into the far corner of the net to seal a 3-1 win.
Everton – February 2015
League leaders Chelsea looked set to drop points at home against Everton with the game goalless heading into the final minute. However, when the ball was punched clear by goalkeeper Tim Howard and dropped to Willian just outside the box, things were about to change. The Brazilian let it bounce once before lashing a right-footed shot through a crowd of defenders and into a narrow gap between Howard and his right post for the winning goal.
Southampton – October 2015
For a two-month spell in last 2015, Willian found his range in dead-ball situations as he converted six free-kicks. The pick of the bunch came against Southampton at Stamford Bridge when, from an unlikely position near the left touchline, he conjured up a perfectly weighted effort which sailed over the outstretched finger-tips of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and went in off the far post.
Manchester City – December 2016
Willian showcased his pace and clinical finishing ability to give us the lead in a crucial 3-1 win at Manchester City in the 2016/17 season. With the score level at 1-1, a City attack was repelled and the ball was worked upfield in four touches by four players to the Brazilian, who left three defenders in his wake before firing a low shot across goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and into the far corner of the net.
Brighton – January 2018
A deserving winner of the club’s Goal of the Season award last year involved a slick interchange between the Brazilian, Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi. After winning possession just inside the Brighton half, the attacking trio exchanged six quick passes to carve open the Seagulls defence, with the ball eventually falling for Willian to slam home from the edge of the box.
Newcastle United – January 2019
Willian’s 49th goal for the Blues was a delightful winner against Newcastle United earlier this month. Receiving the ball from Hazard on the left of the box, the Brazilian seemed to have no route to goal as the Magpies defence quickly dropped back. However, he made a quick move to his right to open up space before bending a perfect shot between two defenders and the goalkeeper into the far corner of the net.
