Seven of our 13 shots were on target, with four blocked and the other two off target.

All three of Tammy Abraham’s efforts were on target. The striker has now scored nine goals in all competitions this season, the joint-most of any Premier League player, along with Raheem Sterling. He is also the league’s top scorer with eight, the same as Sergio Aguero.

Seven of Michy Batshuayi's eight Premier League goals for us have come as a substitute. Only Olivier Giroud (13) has scored more goals off the bench since August 2016.

Southampton had 10 attempts, of which three were on target. Five stemmed from set-pieces but not corners, as all three of theirs were cleared by a Chelsea player. In contrast, our four corners all found someone in blue.

We had a 56.1 per cent share of possession overall, enjoying more of the ball (58.2 per cent) in the second half than the first, successfully managing the game as Frank Lampard pointed out afterwards.

Nobody spent more time on the ball than Jorginho (7.4 per cent). The midfielder had 83 touches, a figure bettered only by Cesar Azpilicueta’s 87. Fikayo Tomori was next for individual possession with 6.9 per cent.

Our pass completion rate was 74 per cent, comfortably our lowest figure this season. We were successful with 387 passes of the 521 we attempted.

Jorginho completed the most number of passes for us (61) and had the best accuracy rate, finding a team-mate 87 per cent of the time. Of our starters Callum Hudson-Odoi was next in that regard (83 per cent).

When it came to key passes, Willian and Hudson-Odoi provided three apiece.

Hudson-Odoi was our top dribbler, too, completing two take-ons. That number was bettered only by Southampton’s Yan Valery who made three, including the assist for their goal.

Four players won five aerial duels, including Marcos Alonso and Kurt Zouma for us. We just shaded the aerial battles, winning 54 per cent of the 39 contested.

Alonso was, along with Oriol Romeu, also the top tackler on display, winning five challenges.

Cesar Azpilicueta won all three he went in for.

Marcos Alonso has been directly involved in 26 goals in his 100 games for us in the Premier League (15 goals and 11 assists), the highest figure for any defender in the competition in that time.

Zouma led the way for clearances (nine), while N’Golo Kante’s five interceptions was a game-high figure. Jorginho made three.
