Emerson Palmieri took part in the final training session before our Champions League fixture against Ajax, but midfielders N'Golo Kante and Ross Barkley were not involved at Cobham.

As is the custom in European competition the first 15 minutes of the session were open to the media, who saw Toni Rudiger and Emerson step out with their Chelsea team-mates and then join in as the group warmed up and then turned their attentions to work with the ball. Emerson has not played since going off injured early on in the loss to Liverpool, with Rudiger's only involvement so far this season 45 minutes against Wolves earlier in September. Frank Lampard had said on Friday the German was stepping up his recovery but there remained 'work to be done' before he was match fit.

On a beautiful autumnal morning in Surrey today, Barkley and Kante were among the absentees. The England midfielder limped off before half-time against Newcastle on Saturday with an ankle problem, while Kante sustained a groin injury on international duty.

Also missing were Andreas Christensen, who Lampard has said will be out for a couple of weeks, and long-term absentee Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Everyone else on our Champions League A list featured, and there was also action for youngster Billy Gilmour.

The Blues will fly to Amsterdam later today and on arrival, Lampard and one of his players will be speaking to the media from the Johan Cruyff Arena. You can watch those press conferences live on this website and the Fifth Stand App from around 5.15pm UK time.

We play Ajax, current Group H leaders with two wins out of two, at 5.55pm tomorrow. It is our first ever competitive meeting against the current Dutch champions.
