The stylish kit, which dives into 1990s shirt culture, has already been worn by our Women's and Academy sides, but will have a first outing in European competition this evening.

Although clean and modern in shape and athletic performance, the predominantly black kit features flashes of bright orange, similar to the away shirt worn between 1994 and 1996, sported by the great Ruud Gullit, who arrived to light up Stamford Bridge during this period.

2018/19

The third kit of last season got off to a fantastic start when the Blues first wore it, defeating Southampton at St Mary's with Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata all on target in our 3-0 victory.

Although not worn too frequently, we would go on and have a successful season as we secured a top four finish in the Premier League and lifted the Europa League by defeating Arsenal 4-1 in Baku.

2017/18

We donned a Nike kit for the first time in 2017/18, the season after we had lifted the Premier League title, with the third kit proving a popular choice. Not only did it look great, but it also saw us put in some fine performances on the road that season, most notably the away victory at Brighton.

Willian scored the pick of the goals in our 4-0 win at the AMEX Stadium, which would go on to be named as our Goal of the Season, as he capped off a lovely flowing move by lashing the ball home.

2011/12

Who could forget our third kit of the 2011/12 season? It was probably best remembered for being worn on a special night in Barcelona, when we defeated the La Liga side in the Camp Nou on aggregate to reach the Champions League final.

The kit became synonymous with that game and in particular, the two fantastic goals scored that night – a deft chip from Ramires and Fernando Torres’ famous strike late on, when he rounded the goalkeeper in injury time to ensure we headed for the final in Munich.

2005/06

Our third kit for the 2005/06 season had actually been our away kit the campaign previous, and it proved to be another successful shirt as we lifted the Premier League for the first time in our history in 2005 before retaining the title the following year, using the strip as our third kit.

The black shirt with the grey shoulders is remembered for being the kit in which Didier Drogba netted his first Chelsea goal (away at Crystal Palace), although this was when the strip was being used the season prior as our change kit.

1998-00

We had a yellow third kit as we entered the new millennium, which became a common colour around this time for our change and third strips.

Tore Andre Flo was often on the scoresheet while wearing the yellow kit, as pictured below scoring away at Coventry City – the side against whom he netted his first ever Chelsea goal.
