Burnley returned to the English top flight for the first time in 33 years in 2009/10 but struggled in their maiden Premier League campaign and were winless in 11 games when leaders Chelsea arrived at Turf Moor.

Nicolas Anelka finished off a swift counter-attack to give the Blues the lead after 27 minutes and after Steve Fletcher put the Clarets back on level terms early in the second half, John Terry headed in a Frank Lampard corner eight minutes from time to secure a 2-1 win for the visitors.

Newly promoted Burnley threatened a big shock in the opening round of Premier League games in 2014/15 when Scott Arfield scored after 14 minutes against the Blues.

Chelsea, however, responded in excellent fashion with Diego Costa levelling before Cesc Fabregas played a brilliant through ball for Andre Schurrle to give us the lead just seven minutes after we had fallen behind.

Fabregas then sent over a corner which was turned in by Branislav Ivanovic to seal a 3-1 win as we made an opening statement of intent in our Premier League-winning campaign.

Chelsea were top of the table and in fine form when we arrived at Turf Moor after dropping only four points in our previous 18 games.

The Blues took the lead when Victor Moses squared for Pedro to score from close range after seven minutes but a free-kick by Robbie Brady levelled the score midway through the first half.

Despite enjoying more than two-thirds of possession, Chelsea couldn’t find a winner as we dropped points at Turf Moor for the first time in the Premier League.

Victor Moses played a big part as Chelsea edged a hard-fought midweek encounter late in the 2017/18 season.

The Blues went ahead after 20 minutes when the Nigerian’s cross from the right was palmed away by goalkeeper Nick Pope but ricocheted off defender Kevin Long and went into the net.

The Clarets equalised after a wayward shot by Johann Berg Gudmundsson was deflected in by Ashley Barnes but Moses secured the win when he was found unmarked by an Emerson cross and drilled a low shot past Pope at his near post.

Four different players scored for Chelsea as we enjoyed our biggest ever win at Turf Moor last year.

Ross Barkley set up the opener for Alvaro Morata midway through the first half and the England midfielder then scored in his third consecutive game when he fired a 25-yard effort with his left boot into the bottom corner.

An exquisite low curler by Willian extended our advantage before substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek got our fourth with a close-range finish in stoppage time.
