Tammy Abraham, now on 10 goals for the season following his opener in the 2-1 win over Watford, revealed afterwards it came from a move that has been practised on more than one occasion.
The 22-year-old latched onto a carefully crafted ball over the defence from Jorginho to send it first time beyond Ben Foster who generally was the equal of most Chelsea attempts on goal. It was his ninth goal in the Premier League campaign, as many as anyone has scored.‘We have been working on that in training,’ Abraham explained. ‘He Jorginho told me he was going to try it today so I just had to time my run, try to stay onside and get a good finish and that is what I did.‘We have been doing it a lot in training and we have tried it a few times this season. It has come off a few times and sometimes it hasn’t but I was ready today.’

It was not only by scoring that Abraham made his impact in Saturday evening’s game. He also provided the ball into the middle from which Christian Pulisic scored our second and again, it was a goal developed on the pitches at Cobham.‘He [Pulisic] is a good player to play with,’ said our young centre-forward. ‘We have been working in training on movement for when he crosses it or I cross it. We know where we are going to be in the box and it is just about getting the ball to him.’
Moving on to consider the match overall, Abraham reported: ‘We dominated the vast majority of the game and credit to Ben Foster, he made some great saves in the first half and the second half as well. In the last 10 minutes they were in the game, they got their penalty and they created a few chances at the end, but it was great spirit we showed out there to take all three points.‘We go away and we expect the home crowd to support their team and we know there is no room for error, so we have to be on our game. Every time we go away we are always hungry and we want to disappoint their home crowd and that is by us winning.‘It is always nice on our journey back home to be happy so we want to win and play well as a team.’It was Chelsea’s fifth win out of six away league games this season, and one that moved us up to third in the table for the first time this season.‘It is always nice to be right up there,’ said Abraham. ‘We go out every game hoping to take all three points and we show belief.’
