Plenty of our loan players were in action this past week with Kenedy scoring his first in a Getafe shirt and another making his debut in Germany…

Overseas Involvement

After remaining on the bench throughout their midweek win over Granada, Kenedy (pictured top) was restored to Getafe’s starting line-up on Sunday and he marked the occasion by opening his account with the only goal of the game to see off Celta Vigo. The result moves them up to seventh in La Liga.Another of our loanees found the back of the net in Italy’s Serie A, but unfortunately for Mario Pasalic it was at the wrong end as he scored an own-goal in Atalanta’s 2-0 loss at home to Cagliari.Ethan Ampadu made his first appearance for RB Leipzig as he was brought on as a late substitute in their 6-1 drubbing of Wolfsburg in the German Cup. His side’s opener was an own-goal by former Blues centre-half Jeffrey Bruma. That was followed by more action from the bench in a thumping victory, as he was introduced in the 52nd minute of an 8-0 win over Mainz in the Bundesliga.

Elsewhere in Europe, Danilo Pantic played the first hour of Mol Fehervar’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Zalaegerszeg in the Hungarian top flight and Victor Moses was taken off after 64 minutes of Fenerbahce’s 1-0 defeat at Kayserispor. In Brazil, Nathan started both of Atletico Mineiro’s games this week as they lost at home to Chapecoense and drew 2-2 at Fortaleza, although he was withdrawn at half-time of the latter fixture.

In England

Reading continue their climb up the Championship table under Mark Bowen, with Matt Miazga once again at the heart of their defence as they beat Millwall 2-1 to record a second win from three matches under their new manager. They move up to 19th. Reading are a point behind Huddersfield Town, who are on a fine run of their own, and Trevoh Chalobah came on in the 76th minute to help them see out a 1-0 win at Brentford.

Despite their struggles in the second tier, the form of Izzy Brown has been a big plus for Luton of late and he was named in the Championship Team of the Month for October. The Hatters will be hoping the injury which forced him off after 33 minutes of their home loss against Nottingham Forest is not too serious.Conor Gallagher could not prevent Charlton Athletic slipping to a 1-0 home defeat against Preston North End and Dujon Sterling made a third start on the bounce, albeit in a losing cause as Wigan also lost in front of their own fans against Swansea City.A tight hamstring kept Richard Nartey out of Burton’s 3-1 loss against in-form Premier League side Leicester City in the Carabao Cup in midweek, with boss Nigel Clough praising the centre-half’s contribution this term by admitting: ‘We missed him, without a doubt.’ He was back for the League One trip to Doncaster on Saturday, but once again succumbed to injury as he came off at half-time in a 2-2 draw.Completing our domestic round-up is Josh Grant, who played for Plymouth against his parent club in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday night. He came on as a sub for the Pilgrims, but Jon Russell’s last-minute goal gave the Blues a 1-0 victory.
