Shortly before half-time the striker landed awkwardly after challenging for a header and took a blow to his hip. He was clearly in some pain and was not able to continue after the break, but thankfully the striker told our cameras his condition quickly improved. He will have a scan today to determine the full extent of the injury.

‘It’s much better to when it happened,’ the 22-year-old said.

‘At the time I was fearful of the worst but I got in, I was able to walk again, move about, so I was thankful and hopefully it’s not too long. Hopefully it’s just bruising. It was a knee to my hip area so hopefully it’s nothing too serious.’

Abraham watched the rest of an exciting contest unfold in the bowels of the Mestalla.

‘I went to the changing room and I was watching it on my phone. My phone was a couple of minutes behind so I could hear everything from the fans, the reactions and all sorts. I was watching it and just shaking, I wish I didn’t get injured and was still out there.

‘We are pleased with a point. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We had to stick together. They are a top side and created a lot of chances, but we know it’s in our hands.’

Abraham was also able to joke about Mateo Kovacic’s celebration in the wake of his first Chelsea goal, which the Croatian netted shortly before Tammy’s injury.

‘I was very pleased for him, but I’m not sure about the celebration! Everyone is delighted for him. He deserved it, he played outstandingly and the goal just tops it off. Everyone gave a great performance so a good result in the end.’
