N'Golo Kante: Difficult to accept but we must react

N’Golo Kante believes our busy schedule provides us with an opportunity to quickly put yesterday’s defeat behind us.

We have action in three different cup competitions coming up in the next fortnight, starting with a trip to Sweden to take on Malmo in the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday.

We also meet Manchester United in the FA Cup, yesterday’s big winners Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, and then a month of big matches concludes when league action resumes and Tottenham visit Stamford Bridge on 27 February.

Assessing our heaviest defeat in the Premier League era and what is required from the Blues now, Kante highlighted the importance of learning lessons quickly and trying to stay positive with so much still to fight for.

‘It’s difficult to explain,’ the 27-year-old said.

‘They outclassed us. It was a collective failing. They outclassed us from the first minute to the last minute, and they made the difference in the first minutes of the first half. It was very difficult to come back from that.

‘It’s a great disappointment and we have to react. It’s difficult to accept such a heavy defeat, but we have a lot of matches coming up to lift our heads and give us hope for good results at the end of this season.

‘We all have disappointment etched across our faces,’ concluded Kante. ‘But we`ve got a lot to learn from this, and hopefully we will not repeat the same mistakes in the future.’
