Stamford Bridge played host to the Chelsea leg of the ePremier League (ePL) FIFA 19 competition on Friday evening as 32 gamers went head to head to win the chance to represent the Blues at the tournament finals in March.
The event took place in the Great Hall beneath the West Stand, bringing together an incredible array of talent all desperate to reach the final. Also present were Chelsea Academy players Jordan Aina, James Clarke and Jake Askew, as well as hosts Wolfy and Rachel Stringer and specialist commentators Mark Hatcher and Dan Gaskin.
More than 6,000 people initially signed up to represent the tournament, with that number whittled down to 32 during the online stages last month. Those qualifiers were then invited to the Bridge for an unforgettable evening of competition, which eventually crowned the Xbox One and Playstation 4 champions.
Pro player Ryan Pessoa (gamer tag Hastag Ryannn) was pushed all the way by Blues season ticket holder Roy Chitiyat (ChittyBang45) before prevailing with a golden goal in the Xbox competition, while on the Playstation, another pro, Jas Singh (Jas1875) prevailed, also finishing as the evening’s top scorer.
The pair will now get the chance to visit our Cobham training ground and face the mysterious CheatMode_91, before representing the Blues at the ePL finals at the end of March. The finals will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
