Europa League round of 16 draw details

After progressing past Malmo, we have all the information you need ahead of the Europa League round of 16 draw, including who we could meet...

When is the draw?

The draw for the Europa League round of 16 takes place at 12 noon UK time tomorrow (Friday 22 February).

We will have coverage on our Twitter feed, the Fifth Stand App and this website.

How will the draw work?

There is no seeding or country protection, so we could meet any of the other 15 sides in the draw.

Who could we meet?

Sevilla were the first team to advance after beating Lazio on Wednesday, and there are two more Spanish teams in the draw. Valencia, regular opponents of ours in the Champions League, comfortably knocked out Celtic, while Villarreal - who we have never met - got the better of Sporting Lisbon.

Inter Milan and Napoli, Maurizio Sarri’s former employers, are the two Italian sides left in the competition, both of whom we met in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this decade.

There are other familiar European opponents from the past in the form of Benfica and Dinamo Kiev.

Rennes, Slavia Prague and RB Salzburg would represent fresh opposition. The Austrian side comprehensively overturned a first-leg deficit to get the better of Club Brugge, while Rennes won away to Real Betis, and Slavia away to Genk, to advance. We contested the 2013 Super Cup in Slavia’s Eden Arena.

Krasnodar of Russia stunned Bayer Leverkusen on away goals. A German side who did advance are Eintracht Frankfurt, and they would also be a new face. They are currently seventh in the Bundesliga and came from behind in the tie to beat Shakhtar Donetsk in the round of 32.

So would Zenit St Petersburg, who contain a former Europa League hero of ours, Branislav Ivanovic. They defeated Fenerbahce, who have our own Victor Moses on loan, 3-2 on aggregate.

Dinamo Zagreb are the other team we have never met before who made it to the last 16. The Croatian side defeated Victoria Plzen 3-0 tonight, and 4-2 on aggregate.

And we could of course meet Arsenal after they defeated our group stage opponents BATE Borisov 3-0 at the Emirates to prevail after losing the first leg in Belarus.

When does the round of 16 take place?

Matches are scheduled to take place on 7 March and 14 March.
