Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain stole the show yesterday and the Belgian spoke afterwards about the many different qualities his new team-mate possesses.
Higuain netted a brilliant brace in the excellent victory over Huddersfield, opening his account for the Blues on his home Premier League debut after joining on loan from Juventus. Hazard, who didn’t miss out on the action himself with goals number 11 and 12 of the league campaign, is delighted to be lining up alongside the Argentinean frontman.
‘He’s good, we know, we saw it in the first training session that he is a fantastic striker,’ Hazard said.
‘He can score from everywhere, he scored a lot of goals in Italy and Spain. He has the quality to score, and also receive the ball, be a target man, go deep. He is complete, and we are just happy to play with him.’
Maurizio Sarri spoke after the game about the link-up play between Hazard and Higuain, and if the pair can continue to find each other with such fluidity we can expect an exciting end to the season.
The margin of victory, allied with such strong performances all over the pitch, was the ideal response to the Bournemouth setback.
‘When you lose it’s always good to talk together,’ Hazard emphasised. ‘We did it for 40, 45 minutes. We are men. We talk, we did, and we are just happy to win.
‘That was better than Wednesday for sure. When you lose a game in the week you need to bounce back. We did well in front of the Chelsea fans, we deserved to win. We did a fantastic game, maybe one of the best of the season, so we are happy.
‘I hope we gave him [Sarri] the response he wants. Now we need to keep winning like this. Sunday we have a tough game: Manchester City away is going to be difficult, but we are good players, we are Chelsea, so we can do it.’
