The official Chelsea website brings you a midweek loan round-up, which includes a brilliant goal scored by Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic scored a superb goal for Borussia Dortmund in their German Cup tie against Werder Bremen last night.
The 20-year-old attacker, who we loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the season having signed him last month, made it 2-1 early in extra-time with a goal of the highest quality.
Picking the ball up just inside the Werder Bremen half, Pulisic embarked upon a mazy run, beating a couple of defenders before playing a one-two and finishing well [video below].
There were three further goals in extra-time, one of which was scored by Bremen’s former Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro, meaning the contest was to be settled by penalties, with Bremen eventually prevailing.
Elsewhere last night, Jacob Maddox started for Cheltenham Town as they beat Yeovil 1-0 at home in League Two, with Luke Varney scoring the only goal of the game on the hour. Nathan Baxter and Josh Grant weren’t involved for the visitors.
On Monday, Mario Pasalic started for Atalanta as they won 1-0 away at Cagliari in Serie A. A goal scored early in the second half by Hans Hateboer proved decisive for the visitors, who are now fifth in the table.
In La Liga, Kenneth Omeruo started as the central figure in a back three for Leganes as they won 2-1 away at Rayo Vallecano on Monday. The winning goal, which came five minutes from time, was scored by En Nesyri Y. Franco Di Santo, another former Chelsea forward, came off the bench in the second half for the home side.
There is Premier League action tonight as Manchester City, our opponents on Sunday, travel to Goodison Park to face Everton. Kurt Zouma will hope to be involved for the home side.
