Lifting the Lid: Ethan Ampadu

Ethan Ampadu is the latest player to provide some behind-the scenes information about his team-mates, including why our most recent acquisition has caught his eye on the training pitch.

Ampadu also answers a question posed by team-mate Toni Rudiger, who was the most recent player to complete this feature.

Who has been the best player in training lately?

I’ve been really impressed with Higuain’s finishing since he arrived so I’d have to say him, he’s been really good.

Of the outfield players, who would also make a good goalkeeper?

Myself. When I was younger I used to go in goal and I enjoyed it. People probably wouldn’t think that, and I’m not sure how good I would be, but I’d be up for it.

Of the defenders, who would make the best striker?

Probably Rudiger. He’s strong and with his pace he could get in behind. Can he finish? Let’s hope so.

Who is good at free-kicks in training that we might not know about?

Callum Hudson-Odoi, which the fans might already know because he’s done it in the youth team. I think he scored one in the FA Youth Cup last season [pictured below], he’s very good at free-kicks.

Who is the biggest joker in the dressing room?

I’d say the Brazilians when they’re together in a group. I don’t understand it sometimes but they’re always laughing and joking so it has to be them.

Who is the loudest?

I’m not sure about that one, but I'd probably say Rudiger.

Who is the quietest?

That’s N’Golo, definitely.

Who do you sit with on away trips? What do you do to pass the time?

It’s usually myself, Callum, Ruben and Andreas on the same table if we all travel. What do we do? Just watch films, watch Netflix, listen to music and chat. Standard footballer stuff really.

Who is good at lifting morale after a bad result?

David Luiz is good at that, Azpilicueta as well, but as a team we are all aware when we have a bad result so we know we have to lift it again as quickly as possible.

Who is the most active on social media?

Jorginho puts a lot of Instagram Stories out so I’d probably say him.

If you could watch any musical act at Under the Bridge, who would it be, and which players would you try to convince to come with you?

I’m listening to a lot of Tory Lanez at the minute so I’d say him, and I’d bring Callum, Ruben and a few of the young boys.

And the question from Rudiger - Who is the best dancer?

Callum has got some good moves, but I suppose I'd better say Rudiger, just to keep him happy.
