Which current Premier League player has the most silverware?
Look no further than Stamford Bridge. Pedro, who this month could add to that tally with the Carabao Cup, has lifted a staggering 25 trophies during his career.
The Spanish international has won the Premier League title and the FA Cup in three-and-a-half years as a Blue, but it was with his former club Barcelona that he sealed the majority of his silverware.
Reflecting on his haul, the 31-year-old said: ‘Twenty-five trophies is good. I’m proud to win so many.
‘I did not imagine that when I started out. It is impossible. When you start playing you are just thinking about playing well, helping your team. You are hoping to win, but it is so difficult. When I retire I will think of these titles.’
Many of these successes were achieved under Pep Guardiola, who will be in the opposing dugout on Sunday.
‘He was the best for me. He put me in the first team,’ Pedro said. ‘You could straight away see Pep was an amazing coach. I won titles, we played great football – and he went to Bayern and now City, and won more titles.’
We travel to Manchester in the hunt for crucial league points but our next meeting with City follows in just a fortnight, with the opportunity for Pedro to complete the domestic set if we win the Carabao Cup.
‘We are still alive in four competitions,’ he continued. ‘It is good to be in a final. In the league it could be better, and against City it will be tough, but the top four is the target.’
Pedro still has some way to go to surpass Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who amassed 34 trophies between 1991 and his retirement in 2014.
