It is a landmark meeting between Chelsea and Arsenal this midweek, and we have all the noteworthy facts and stats in the build-up to the game...

Chelsea vs Arsenal head-to-head record

Chelsea play Arsenal for the 200th occasion in all competitions, more than we’ve played against any other club.

Didier Drogba is our leading scorer against the Gunners with 13, followed by Bobby Tambling’s 10, and Eden Hazard and George Mills with seven.

Arsenal have only won two of their last 16 Premier League meetings with Chelsea (five draws, nine defeats), both at the Emirates – 3-0 in September 2016 and 2-0 in January 2019.

Arsenal are winless in their last seven Premier League away games against Chelsea (one draw, six defeats) since winning 5-3 in October 2011.

In the reverse fixture last month at the Emirates, the Blues won 2-1 with two goals in the last seven minutes from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring on 12 minutes.

We are looking to complete the league double over the Gunners for the first time since 2015/16, and for the fifth time in the Premier League era. Only Liverpool (five) and Man Utd (five) have done this against the Gunners on as many as five occasions.

Chelsea stats

Chelsea are fourth with 39 points from 23 games, five points clear of Man Utd in fifth and six behind Leicester in third.

Frank Lampard’s side are seeking consecutive home league wins for the first time since October/November when we beat Brighton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace in succession.

Frank Lampard is looking to become the first English Chelsea manager to do the league double against Arsenal since Dave Sexton in 1969/70.

Only Norwich City (6,245) have given more Premier League minutes to players aged 21 or younger this season than Chelsea (5,736) and Arsenal (4,091).

The Blues have lost once in our last eight home London derbies in the Premier League (six wins, one draw), although it came last time out vs West Ham in November. We haven’t lost successive Premier League London derbies at Stamford Bridge since October 1999.

Arsenal have drawn more games than any other side in the Premier League this term (11).

The Gunners have dropped 13 points from winning positions this season, as many as they did in the whole of the 2018/19 campaign. More than half of those have come since Mikel Arteta was appointed manager in December (seven).

Although Arsenal are unbeaten away in the Premier League for five games, they have only won once on the road since the opening day at Newcastle.

Suspended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored almost half of Arsenal’s Premier League goals this season, and nine of their 12 away from home.

In all competitions, Gabriel Martinelli has scored nine goals in 10 starts for the club. Martinelli is looking to become the first 18-year-old to score in consecutive Premier League matches for the Gunners since Nicolas Anelka in January 1998.

Arsenal players have been booked 56 times this season in the league, more than any other Premier League side.

Aubameyang is the third Arsenal player to score and be sent off in the same Premier League match, and the first since Mikel Arteta, also vs Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in October 2013.

Arsenal’s 22 fouls against Crystal Palace last week was their most in a league game for 10 years.

Mikel Arteta takes charge of a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge for the first time. He is the 187th different manager or head coach we have come up against since the English top flight was rebranded in 1992.
