THE FORM

Chelsea, who are undefeated this term, are not short of confidence at the moment having come off the back of a sensational 4-1 victory over reigning Champions Arsenal last weekend.Bethany England extended her goal scoring tally to 15 with a spectacular curled effort after only 10 minutes into the derby and the second goal followed three minutes later courtesy of Sam Kerr. The No.20 opened her Chelsea account when she got on the end of Guro Reiten’s whipped-in cross to head beyond the Gunners keeper.Sophie Ingle scored a Goal of the Season contender before the clock had even hit the 20-minute mark as the Welsh midfielder buried her left-footed half-volley into the top corner. Reiten capped off our ruthless performance with a towering header in the second half. However, our clean sheet could not be kept intact  as substitute Beth Mead’s effort snuck between Ann-Katrin Berger and the near post.Charlton are yet to win a league match having drawn six and lost four so far this term. They were denied their first win of the season last weekend when Blackburn Rovers edged a 2-1 victory in a bottom-of-the-table clash. Seven minutes into the match it was striker Charlie Estcourt who put Charlton ahead with an effort that flew into the top right corner from 18 yards out. However, their hopes of earning their first three points were quickly snatched away in the later stages of the clash due to a brace from Rovers’ Natasha Flint.

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD

Sunday will be the first time that the two sides have met. Our opponents are in their second season in the newly-formed FA Women’s Championship having been awarded promotion to the second tier. In their 2017/18 campaign they won the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division by eight points, with a goal difference of plus 85. They clinched the title with a 4-0 victory away to Crystal Palace and then went on to defeat Northern Division Champions Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Sheffield United’s Bramhall Lane in the FAWPL play-off final to be given their tier two licence.

NOMINATIONS FOR JANUARY WSL AWARDS

The Women’s Super League have nominated Emma Hayes for Manager of the Month for the third time this term, while Bethany England and Sophie Ingle are both in contention for Player of the Month.
