There are four match days available throughout the season for bucket collections, so the charities have been broken down into different categories: children’s, medical, armed forces and community charities.

Thousands of you took part in the third poll, the forces category, via this website, with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, formerly known as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, coming out on top.

Since 1885, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families.

In 2018, their teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 82,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families.

Lieutenant General Sir Andrew Gregory, chief executive of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to be the chosen military charity for the matchday collection when Chelsea faces Manchester United.

‘It is a fantastic opportunity for us to both raise awareness of SSAFA and to raise vital funds for the Armed Forces community.

‘Last year alone, SSAFA helped more than 82,000 people - which is double the capacity of Stamford Bridge.

‘It is thanks to opportunities like this that we can continue providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families so please do look out for our SSAFA volunteers before the match.

‘Thank you to everyone who gives generously in the collection, it is hugely appreciated.’

Our first poll of this season took place earlier in the campaign with children’s charity Shooting Star winning the majority of the votes, while Keech Hospice Care, the winners of our medical category, collected at the Bridge in November.
