If you combine the hours spent travelling to games - both domestic and across the continent, with the all-important time spent resting in-between training sessions and matches – you accrue a sizable chunk of downtime to fill as a professional footballer.

One way to fill that time is to relax and enjoy some entertainment streamed on video, and this week we asked Mason Mount for his three recommendations for what to watch...

American Sniper (film)

‘I love that film!’

Based on a true story, Bradley Cooper picked up a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Chris Kyle, a US Navy S.E.A.L who served four tours of duty in Iraq, becoming one of the most lethal snipers in US military history.

With his pinpoint accuracy, he saves countless lives, but in doing so becomes a prime target of insurgents. When he returns home a hero to his wife and kids, he struggles to leave the war behind as he re-enters civilian life.

Buckle in for an emotional rollercoaster filled with action and loud bangs.

Rhythm and Flow

‘With T.I, Chance the Rapper and Cardi B. It’s like the rap version of X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent.’

Mount joins his team-mate Christian Pulisic in offering high praise for this Simon Cowell-free music competition, which is the first of its kind to focus on hip hop. The show’s superstar judges search for the next big thing from hopefuls across America.

Money Heist

‘I need to keep watching it, I sometimes get bored with a series but this is a really good one.’

Our young Blue’s final recommendation is a popular choice amongst the squad. With millions of Euros and their lives on the line, nine robbers attempt to pull off the greatest heist of all time. Or second greatest, if you count the Barcelona game at the Bridge in 2009.

Set in Spanish but dubbed in English, this crime drama is the second most popular foreign-language series on Netflix, and you’ve got three seasons to get stuck into.
