Aubameyang wanted by Chelsea?

According to 90min.com, Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amid uncertainty over the striker's long-term future at Arsenal.

Aubameyang joined the Gunners in January 2018, at the same time that Olivier Giroud left the club to join Chelsea, and it is suggested the 30-year-old could now follow the same route to Stamford Bridge.

‘The Gabon international will be out of contract in summer 2021 as it stands, and as yet there has been little to no progress on an extension to his current deal,’ states the report.

‘As a result, Arsenal are now prepared to sell him in the summer as they don't want to see him leave the club for free and a source has confirmed to 90min that Chelsea are one of the teams who are interested in signing him.

‘It has previously been confirmed to 90min that Chelsea have made finding a new striker one of their top priorities for the summer. Both Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud could leave Stamford Bridge, and the Blues want a high-level replacement who could compete with Tammy Abraham for minutes.

‘Lyon's Moussa Dembélé is another option, and the French side are keen to convince Chelsea to pursue such a deal, but now Aubameyang has emerged as an alternative.’

Mikel explains Turkish departure

Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has told The Athletic he decided to leave Trabzonspor because of his unhappiness with Turkish football's decision to continue playing during the Covid-19 crisis.

The 32-year-old, who recently voiced his unhappiness with the league’s stance in an Instagram post, has had his contract with the club cancelled and has reportedly returned to his family home in England.

‘They [Trabzonspor] were really upset about the whole thing,’ said the Nigerian.

‘I was told to meet with the president in his office one-on-one. He asked me to take [the post] down. I told him I wasn’t going to do that.

‘It’s my opinion. This is how I feel. We live in a free world. I have freedom of speech. I can express my opinion.

‘I wanted to win the league too but at this point in time we have to think about what is more important: to save peoples’ lives.

‘I want to help in any way that I can to defeat this virus. For us to be out there playing; I don’t think we are helping the global situation. I don’t feel it is right for us to play football.

‘UEFA have postponed football. How come they are still playing in Turkey? It’s not right at all. But Trabzonspor were not having it — for me, they don’t care.’

Boga would like to return to Chelsea

The Evening Standard reports Jeremie Boga would be keen to come back to Stamford Bridge if the Blues decided to buy back the winger from Italian side Sassuolo.

The 23-year-old left Chelsea in the summer of 2018 and has impressed during his time in Italy with 11 goals and five assists in 52 appearances for the Serie A club.

However, Boga has noticed the opportunities given to young players at Chelsea this season and would be keen on a return to the Premier League side now that he has had the chance to prove himself at a higher level.

‘When you become that good, it means it was always inside of you. So for me, I know it’s inside of me,’ he said.

‘So I just need the time to show it or maybe make the right decision, like coming here to the Serie A.

‘When I was there [at Chelsea], it was Willian, Hazard, Pedro. When Mourinho was there, it was Salah.

‘There were a lot of good wingers. For me, it has always been if I can’t play, then I will try to go on loan or try to go somewhere to improve, then maybe come back one day.’
