Pulisic lauds Sancho

Christian Pulisic has drawn comparisons between himself and his Jadon Sancho, with the Daily Express suggesting the former Borussia Dortmund team-mates could soon be re-united at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the American lauded Sancho, who has made a name for himself at the Bundesliga club since he joined them from Manchester City in 2017.

‘He was given an opportunity, just like I was, at a very high level, and they [Borussia Dortmund] show you right away that they trust you and they're going to give an equal opportunity to all the players,’ said Pulisic.

‘He's done an amazing job since he came in and has obviously shown what abilities he has.’

In quoting the American, the Express goes on to suggest that Chelsea and Manchester United are leading contenders to sign Sancho this summer with the Blues holding the edge in the race to snap up the 20-year-old London native.

‘The Blues are already thought to have an advantage over the Red Devils with Sancho believed to be a boyhood Chelsea fan and eager for a return to his home city,’ states the paper.

Ballack wants Havertz to stay at Leverkusen

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack feels young German midfielder Kai Havertz should remain at Bayer Leverkusen instead of seeking a move to a bigger club this summer, the Evening Standard reports.

The 20-year-old, who was recently described by ex-Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann as a ‘young Michael Ballack’ has been linked with several big clubs including Chelsea after impressing at Leverkusen.

However, Ballack, who played for Leverkusen before and after his time at Chelsea, would be better off at the Bundesliga club for now.

‘Players with his quality are in demand everywhere. But I think he’s in good hands in Leverkusen,’ he told SportBild.

‘The conditions there are perfect for young top players and their development. Bayer play attractive football and their training facilities are very good.

‘Leverkusen also offer a cautious environment, and as a player you can make mistakes without being the focus of criticism. You should appreciate that.

‘Of course a player like Kai Havertz has to play in the Champions League, so it would be important for Leverkusen to qualify for it.’

Paper suggests Blues fans follow Gladbach’s fortunes

With the German Bundesliga set to resume this weekend, the Daily Mail has suggested Chelsea fans could follow the fortunes of Borussia Monchengladbach while waiting for the Blues to return to action in the Premier League.

In its article, the paper described each of the 18 Bundesliga clubs and selected a team that fans of each Premier League side could throw their support behind in the coming weeks.

In the case of the Blues, the team chosen was Gladbach who, like the Blues, currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga table.

‘Both these clubs have enjoyed their periods of success - Gladbach dominated the Bundesliga in the 1970s, winning a number of titles,’ states the Mail.

‘Chelsea achieved more in the late 1990s and 2000s but both have regularly graced the European stage.

‘In the present day, both have exciting young managers - Frank Lampard at Chelsea and Marco Rose at Gladbach - some useful up-and-coming players and are on course for the Champions League next season.’

The report also suggested Manchester United fans should follow red giants Bayern Munich, Liverpool supporters should get behind Jurgen Klopp’s former side Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur should back Bayer Leverkusen because ‘they're always the bridesmaid when it comes to the major prizes’.
