JT goes full John Terry once more

John Terry left Jamie and Harry Redknapp and golfer Rory McIlroy in stitches after he wore a full Chelsea kit from the 2011/12 season for a golfing challenge on a television show, the Sun reports.

The former Blues skipper has been mocked by fans of rival clubs since he collected the Champions League trophy in full match attire eight years ago despite being suspended for the final against Bayern Munich.

However, the 39-year-old showed he is able to laugh at the incident when he wore the same outfit including shinpads and a captain's armband for a new entertainment programme on Sky called Redknapp's Home Fixture.

‘The former England international was taking part in a golf challenge with McIlroy where he was supposed to chip a golf ball into his trophies,’ states the report.

‘Terry had replicas of all his major gongs lined up in his garden including the European Cup in question.

‘As Jamie introduced the Aston Villa assistant manager, Terry appeared from off screen, smiling in his full Chelsea get up. As the gag became clear, both Redknapps, fellow host Tom Davis and McIlroy were seen in fits of laughter.

‘The show is intended to bring a bit of light-hearted sporting relief to fans during the football blackout.’

Cascarino grateful for Blues’ act of concern

Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has thanked Chelsea on TalkSport for checking on the welfare of former players like himself during the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who played 45 games at Stamford Bridge from 1992 to 1994, admitted he was touched by the club’s concern for his well-being.

Said Cascarino: ‘Sally, who works for Chelsea Football Club, gave me a call randomly and says, “Hi Tony, you okay?” I say, “Yes thanks”.

‘I immediately did the stupid joke, “Does Frank (Lampard) need me?”

‘Sally says, “No, we are just checking up on all our ex-players and making sure they are all okay, health wise and mentally”.

‘It was really nice. I’ve spoken to Sally before and Chelsea have been exceptional with ex-players, they really have. They keep in communication with us.

‘But in this period, they were making a call to see if everyone was alright.’

Pundit predicts Gallagher will go on loan again

Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has tipped Conor Gallagher to go out on loan again despite the young midfielder impressing in his loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City this season.

Gallagher’s solid performances at the Championship clubs in his first full campaign at senior level has raised speculation he could make it into Frank Lampard’s squad at Stamford Bridge in 2020/21.

However, Andrews feels the 20-year-old would benefit from another year of experience away from SW6.

‘When you look at it, 12 months ago at Chelsea this wouldn’t have even been a discussion, it would have been either he goes back on loan again or they sell him for a decent profit,’ said the former Ireland midfielder.

‘I think now is a different scenario with Frank Lampard in charge. But those issues, the fact that there is a bit of competition in there.

‘The other thing I would say is that he is still very, very young. I don’t see him going back there next season. I see him going back on loan because of his age.

‘I don’t see any rush whatsoever in trying to get him into the Chelsea team. I think they’ll nurture him, they’ll use the loan market again, give him a longer contract and secure him long term.’
