The Blues have returned to small group training this week and here the official Chelsea website brings you an exclusive look at the first footage from Cobham...

After two months away, players and some staff returned on Tuesday afternoon in line with the Premier League's Return to Training Protocol and UK Government guidelines on social distancing.

Frank Lampard and his assistants were present as the squad returned following a prolonged period away due to the lockdown measures implemented throughout the country.

Premier League shareholders voted unanimously on Monday in favour of a return to socially-distanced training, although contact training is not yet permitted. Players must train in small groups and the focus is on fitness work at this time.

However, as the video above shows, the balls were back out with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lampard enjoying a socially-distanced kickabout and Mateo Kovacic honing his close-control skills.

This first stage of training has been agreed in consultation with players, managers, Premier League club doctors, independent experts and the Government.

Strict medical protocols of the highest standard will ensure everyone returns to training in the safest environment possible.

The health and wellbeing of all participants is the Premier League’s priority, and the safe return to training is a step-by-step process. Clubs will discuss protocols for the next phase, which will include contact training, at the next Premier League meeting on Tuesday 26 May.
