Jorginho has not played a minute since football restarted last month, but Frank Lampard says that has not affected the midfielder's attitude in training.

With N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic ruled out of the Crystal Palace game through injury, there is a possibility Lampard will select the Italian international at Selhurst Park, although the boss refused to confirm that this afternoon.

What he could say was that despite Jorginho's lack of action since the resumption, the 28-year-old had kept up his high standards at Cobham.

‘He’s been very professional about it,' explained Lampard. 'He wants to play as every player does. One of the hardest parts of the job is telling a player they’re not playing, particularly when they train well, and Jorginho always trains well.

‘He has handled it professionally, and that’s what I would expect. It’s important players over the course of a long season, in a competitive squad like we have, are there to support other players when they’re playing and they’re out. We’ll see with my selection tomorrow whether he plays.’
