Frank Lampard makes three changes for this evening’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, with Mason Mount, Willy Caballero and Reece James all coming into the side.

It appears to be a switch to three at the back as Kurt Zouma, Toni Rudiger and captain Cesar Azpilicueta are selected along with James and Marcos Alonso in front of Caballero.

Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are in midfield, with Olivier Giroud selected to lead the line up front supported by Willian and Mount.

United make five changes from Thursday's win at Crystal Palace with Eric Bailly, Daniel James, Brandon Williams, Nemanja Matic and Fred coming in.

Stats recap

Man United are seeking a fourth successive victory against the Blues for the first time since 2011. They are unbeaten against us in six games, since we prevailed in the 2018 FA Cup final when Eden Hazard scored the winner.

Since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, Chelsea and Man Utd have won more major trophies than any other English clubs - Chelsea 16, Man Utd 14.

Chelsea and Man Utd meet in the FA Cup for the fourth successive year.

This will be the fourth game against Man United this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side winning both Premier League encounters as well as the fourth round Carabao Cup tie at Stamford Bridge.

The only other season we have come across each other in both domestic cup competitions was in 2012/13. Chelsea progressed in both.

Chelsea stats

Chelsea are playing our 25th game at the new Wembley Stadium since it opened in 2007.

We have reached the FA Cup semi-final for the 10th time in 19 seasons, more than any other club in that period.

Frank Lampard’s side are seeking to reach the FA Cup final for the 14th occasion.

The Blues have won seven of our previous eight FA Cup semi-finals played at Wembley, against Luton Town (with Kerry Dixon in the Luton side) in 1994, Newcastle in 2000, Arsenal in 2009, Aston Villa in 2010, Tottenham twice in 2012 and 2017 and Southampton in 2018. Our only defeat came in 2013 against Manchester City.

This will be the 11th occasion we have played against a team in both domestic cup competitions in the same season.

Chelsea have won 12 (including one on penalties) of our last 13 FA Cup ties, losing just to Man Utd in 2019.
