The Swans took a 1-0 lead to west London from the first game in South Wales on Sunday, but two quick Brentford goals turned the tie in the Bees' favour.

In response, Gallagher was played through and drew a fine low save from Brentford keeper David Raya, but Swansea's night got worse in the first minute of the second half as the home side, playing their last ever game at Griffin Park, went 3-0 up on the night and 3-1 ahead on aggregate through Bryan Mbuemo.

Gallagher, who started the game playing behind the front two, dropped deeper after the interval and helped orchestrate a comeback of sorts. A mistake by Pontus Jansson allowed Rhian Brewster, another Swansea loanee, to lob Raya and take the visitors to within a goal of extra-time.

But that was to prove the final meaningful action, so Brentford progress to next Tuesday's final, where there is every chance they will meet another west London side, Fulham. They take a 2-0 lead into their second leg at home to Cardiff tomorrow.

Tonight Gallagher and Guehi played the full 90 minutes, with the 20-year-old defender looking assured on the left side of a back three. It was his 14th appearance for the Swans since joining them on loan in January, with Gallagher racking up his 21st game since switching from Charlton at the start of the year.

In Italy on Tuesday night, Victor Moses was a late substitute in Inter Milan’s 2-0 victory over Napoli. Second-placed Inter travel to third-placed Atalanta in the final game of the Serie A season on Sunday.

Davide Zappacosta also came off the bench as Roma won 3-2 at Torino tonight, each side scoring once following his introduction. Roma are now guaranteed to finish fifth ahead of their final game away at champions Juventus.
