Scotland international Erin Cuthbert is the latest player to sign a new contract, prolonging her stay at Chelsea FC Women for a further three years.

Cuthbert has established herself as one of the key players in Emma Hayes’ squad, being just two shy of 100 Chelsea appearances and having won five trophies since joining from Glasgow City in 2016.On signing the extension until 2023, Cuthbert said: ‘It means so much to me, I’ve been here three-and-a-half years now and this club feels like home to me. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else and I’m just happy to get the deal over the line.’General manager Paul Green added: ‘We think Erin is one of the best young players in the world and we’re delighted that she’s extended her contract.‘Erin’s been developing very well since she’s been at the club, improving each year and we’re lucky to have her. We look forward to working with her for many years to come and seeing how her career continues to flourish.'

The 22-year-old made a good first impression during our Spring Series success in 2017 and Cuthbert was even more influential in her first full campaign with the club, which ended with the Blues winning the Women’s Super League title and Women's FA Cup Double in 2018.Last season she was also a pivotal performer in our 2020 Double-winning campaign having played a part in 23 out of 25 matches, helping us clinch the Barclays Women’s Super League trophy and Continental Tyres League Cup.‘I think I’ve developed so much, even when I came in I think I was miles off the pace and I’m first to admit that,’ Cuthbert said.‘I think it’s shown in my game, I feel like I’ve really grown and developed and I feel like I’ve got so much more to give here.’

Having achieved so much already in her Blues career, Cuthbert is determined more than ever to add even more silverware to the trophy cabinet. She believes Chelsea is the right club for her to achieve those ambitions.‘I’ve had so many incredible moments, I think the first year winning the Double was special for me but the FA Cup final at Wembley was an incredible moment just because I had my family there. My mum said it was one of the best days of her life and for me to have that important impact for my mum is really special.

‘The Conti Cup was a great moment as well and now I’ve completed all the domestic ones, I want more and I feel like I can achieve that at this club.‘The level in training has gone up another level again so it’s going to be really tough to get in the team and stay in the team. But that’s going to drive our standards forward and hopefully it’s going to be enough to get us over the line this year.‘I want the Treble, but that includes the Champions League so I think I have to say the Quadruple.‘The Champions League is the crème de la crème of club football, we want to get there, we narrowly missed out two years ago and we want more this year.‘We want to go a step further and we’ve got more than enough fire power in this squad.'
