Blues to vie with Toffees for Reguilon?

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have joined Everton in the race to sign Real Madrid's Sergio Reguilon, who was voted La Liga’s best left-back last season.

A graduate of Real Madrid’s youth system, the 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at Sevilla last season but could be allowed to leave the Spanish champions who are reportedly looking to raise funds from his transfer.

‘Last week, Everton bid £18m for the Real Madrid academy product - who received rave reviews while on loan at Sevilla, helping the Andalusian club to fourth place and Champions League qualification,’ states the report.

‘Chelsea have now made their interest in Reguilon known - and are expected to trump Everton's £18m bid in the coming days.

‘Real Madrid rate Reguilon highly, but are blessed with talent in the left-back position and drastically need to raise funds - a reported 200m euros - to help balance the books.

‘As well as the experienced campaigner Marcelo, now 32, Real have Ferland Mendy who has enjoyed an impressive season at the Bernabeu.

‘Sevilla remain keen to take him on loan for another season, but are aware his performances have brought him to the attentions of major teams across Europe.’

Hazard on his favourite Champions League goal

Eden Hazard has told uefa.com his favourite Champions League goal was his strike for Chelsea in our group stage match at Schalke in the 2013/14 season.

The Belgian scored on the counter-attack three minutes from time to seal a 3-0 victory over the German side but while he looks back fondly on his first-ever Champions League goal, he also apologised to Fernando Torres for denying him a hat-trick in the match.

‘The first one is always special, you know. Away in a big game, we played a fantastic game,’ he said.

‘I could and should have passed to Fernando Torres, but I did it myself, so I was lucky that the ball went in. That's why it's my favourite one.

‘I think he [Torres] was waiting for his hat-trick so it was my bad – sorry, Fernando.’

It was one of eight goals Hazard scored for the Blues in the competition but he added he felt just as comfortable setting them up.

‘The feeling is the same when you see the ball in the net,’ he said.

‘In my mind, I'm not just thinking about scoring goals, scoring goals, scoring goals. Some players now just think about scoring goals. And me? I'm more the kind of player who can create something.

‘That's why I like to say that I'm more of an assisting guy than a scoring machine. I prefer to make assists, but I also like the feeling when you score a beautiful goal, a last-minute goal, and you win the game at the end.’

Ginter not interested in move

TalkSport reports Matthias Ginter is not interested in leaving Borussia Monchengladbach this summer despite being linked with a number of big clubs across Europe including Chelsea.

Citing a report by German publication Kicker, the 26-year-old said he was not interested in rumours of possible interest from the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.

‘I’m definitely staying in Gladbach,’ said Ginter in response to the transfer rumours.

‘Of course I heard of the enquiries and was flattered by this attention, but I’ve said often enough how good things are for me in Gladbach.

‘This team has huge potential, and the coach gives us a great deal of added value. With the amazing fans and surroundings here, this club is currently in the process of building something. I share these big ambitions and I also have a contract here.’
