The FA Women’s Community Shield is set to make a return, with the Blues taking on the 2019 Women’s FA Cup holders, Manchester City on Saturday 29 August.

The match will be the first Women’s Community Shield since 2008 and it will be staged at Wembley Stadium, prior to the men’s equivalent, with a kick-off time of 12.30pm.

It has been confirmed by the FA that the game will be behind closed doors and broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The Blues begin our Women’s Super League title defence with a trip north to Manchester United on Sunday 6 September, followed by a home match against Bristol City on Sunday 13 September. Both fixtures will also be behind closed doors.

Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes said: ‘I’m extremely excited to open the season at Wembley against a top team.

‘We’re working really hard and it’s a trophy to compete for. I take every trophy very seriously and we will be ready for it.’
