Pre-season has officially started for Chelsea, as Frank Lampard’s Blues reported back to Cobham for training following a small period off.

Following the extended 2019/20 season, which did not end for Chelsea until 8 August and our Champions League clash with eventual winners Bayern Munich, the players were allowed a small rest period before reporting back to Cobham to officially start the preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Frank Lampard and his coaches – Jody Morris, Joe Edwards and Chris Jones – put the players through their paces with several fitness drills, stretching exercises and, of course, plenty of ball work.

Summer signings Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, who have both been training with the squad for many weeks now, were joined by returning loanees Ethan Ampadu, Conor Gallagher and Jake Clarke-Salter among others, and a number of Academy and development squad players were also part of the session.

Take a look at the best pictures from the first day of training below and remember to stay tuned to The 5th Stand app and this website for more from Cobham over the next few days.
