The England left-back signed from Leicester City this summer and, while an injury means he is still awaiting his chance to make his Chelsea debut, he couldn’t be more excited about the season ahead.

'The manager has said to me that the way I play suits this team perfectly,' he explains in a wide-ranging programme interview.

'I’m 23, I’m not at the age anymore where I’m happy just to be playing. I want to be in a team that wins things. When I come to the end of my career, I want to have won everything there is to win, and I think at this club we can do that.'

Chilwell explained how the new signings have bonded this summer over their shared ambition to help their new club win major honours in the years ahead.

'I was chatting to Hakim [Ziyech] about it and we were both saying, with the squad we have now, over the next few years we should be getting to cup finals and challenging for the league every year,' he says. 'I think that’s why we’ve both come here, because we’re both confident that can be the case.'
