Bethany England, Chelsea Women’s Player of the Season, and Billy Gilmour, the Chelsea Academy Player of the Season, have both taken receipt of their trophies and had something to say about it too.

In these irregular times, the usual Chelsea Awards ceremony to mark individual achievement and celebrate a season just finished could not take place, so instead the winners of the accolades were announced online and that has been followed by the honours being handed over at Cobham, moments you can watch below, with words from both players about their seasons.

England won a fans’ vote for the Chelsea Women's Player of the Season award - presented by Millennium Hotels and Resorts and handed her way by Emma Hayes. She was her team’s top scorer in 2019/20 with 21 goals in 24 outings during a curtailed season when the WSL title and Conti Cup were won. She scored both goals in the final of the latter competition. She was also the overall WSL Player of the Year.

Gilmour is reaching the end of his recovery from knee surgery with Frank Lampard last week reporting the 19-year-old is making good progress. He was awarded for a season in which he made his breakthrough into the men’s senior side, being named man of the match in consecutive games, and led the development squad side during their PL2 title-winning campaign. Jody Morris presented him with his trophy.

Check back tomorrow for the winners of the men’s Player of the Season and Goal of the Season collecting their awards.
