The second international break of 2020/21 is upon us already and here we look in detail at which Chelsea players are away with their countries and what games they have to look forward to.

September’s internationals saw the start of the new UEFA Nations League campaign and that continental competition dominates this latest break for our European contingent.

However, after the announcement earlier in the summer that both the October and November international windows would feature three matches for each nation instead of two this season, there is friendly action to compete in first of all this midweek, with Reece James hoping to make his senior England debut when the Three Lions take on Wales at Wembley.

The FA have confirmed that as a precaution to understand if there is any risk to the wider group, the arrival of Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho will be delayed. This is to allow time to gather further information of a social gathering that all three players reportedly attended over the weekend.

Another player who won't be reporting for duty just yet is Timo Werner, with the Germany assistant coach Marcus Sorg reporting on Monday that the striker 'has a slight cold and won't join up with the team today.' He will miss their midweek friendly against Turkey but is expected to reconvene with the squad later in the week.

Further afield, qualification for the 2022 World Cup begins this week in South America, with Thiago Silva aiming to help Brazil make a good start in matches against Bolivia and Peru. Elsewhere, Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech could go head-to-head when Senegal travel to Morocco.
